First settled in 1880, Hoodsport lies at the base of the Olympic Mountains on the western shore of Hood Canal, the western most arm of Puget Sound. 

Clams, oysters and shrimp are harvested from area waters, and Lake Cushman to the west is a popular recreation spot.
